Some local media in Beit Shemesh, reporting residents’ dissatisfaction with prolonged outages over the weekend, wrote: “Scandal in Beit Shemesh; thousands of residents enter the weekend in darkness.”
At the same time, due to the volume of complaints, the Israel Electric Corporation announced that the incident occurred because of a sudden voltage spike and distribution system errors, and that resolving the disruption would take at least six hours. However, several hours past the announced timeframe, this claim was not fulfilled, and residents spent their weekend in darkness.
According to some sources, widespread disruptions in water, electricity, and rail transport infrastructure in Beit Shemesh have become a repetitive and tedious pattern for residents, and due to strict news censorship, no clear explanation about the source of these incidents has been provided by any Israeli authorities.
It is worth noting that media affiliated with the Iranian regime’s security services last week claimed, with published images, that they had blown up dozens of electricity transformers near military and security points.
