Upgraded Version of Kowsar Satellite Unveiled
Hassan Salarieh, head of the Iranian Space Agency, stated:
“The Kowsar satellite was the first observation satellite built by the private sector and was launched in November 2024. Its second model, developed on the basis of experience gained from the first version, will be launched into space later this year.”
Kowsar-2 has been upgraded in imaging, telecommunications, coding, and data control and management algorithms, with improvements made based on the results of the first launch.
Salarieh emphasised that supporting private companies and reducing the risks of their entry into the space industry is a priority for the agency, and that new space tenders centred on the private sector will soon be announced.
According to some sources, Iran intends to use this satellite for intercepting communications and signal sabotage targeting the military communication systems of Israel and the United States.
