Israeli Defence Forces have conducted extensive artillery and air strikes targeting the al-Zaytoun and al-Sabra districts in the southern part of Gaza City.
In addition, the IDF launched a series of air raids on the al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.
Certain Arab sources have alleged that, in order to prevent an increase in the number of hostages, the military may be acting in accordance with the so-called Hannibal Protocol, carrying out strikes in areas where it believes its own captives could be held, with the objective of denying Hamas the ability to exploit them.
