The professional cycling team Israel-Premier Tech has announced that it will change its riders’ uniforms for the remainder of the Vuelta a Spain. The decision was made in response to the increase in anti-Israel protests and demonstrations in Spain in recent days.
According to a team statement, until the end of the race on September 14 in Madrid, the riders will race in special jerseys with a large Star of David in the center of the front and back, but without the words “Israel Premier Tech.”
The club, which is responsible for the security of the area, said: “We have decided to make this change out of a decision for our complete security to ensure the safety of the riders, and given the dangerous nature of the demonstrations during the Vuelta a Spain.”
