Local sources reported that today all military bases in Baghdad and the Green Zone are being evacuated, with only a limited number of personnel remaining under the designation of “advisory” forces. The last logistical equipment was transferred last night.
This withdrawal includes the Green Zone (al-Khadra), which hosts Western diplomatic missions, official headquarters, Baghdad International Airport, and the Joint Operations Command.
A spokesperson for the United States Embassy in Baghdad also confirmed that coalition forces under Operation Inherent Resolve have entered the final phase of their mission in Iraq, in line with the planned timetable.
